THE KEY TO MASS EV ADOPTION IN EUROPE – CHARGING | SIMON LONSDALE (CHARGEPOINT, INC.)

The solution for motivating the massadoption of EVs in Europe is simple. Give drivers a better experience. EV driversdon’t believe they are getting the best quality service in many areas of ownership, particularly when it comes to charging. Drivers don’t want to settle for less and shouldn’t have to. If we want to be serious about EV ownership in Europe, then we need to be serious about improving the broken driver experience. The time is nowto begin the process so we don’t miss the opportunity.

HOW DIGITALISATION DISRUPTS THE BUSINESS MODELS IN THE (E)MOBILITY WORLD | CHRISTOPH BORNSCHEIN (TLGG GMBH)

Digitalisation and softwarization are changing the rules in the automotive industry
and challenge the industry with the need to build new capabilities and organizational
forms. In addition to that traditional players become more and more disintermediated
from the drivers/users which leads to less control and revenue in a mobility-driven
world. Thus business models like aftersales, dealerships and everything around
car-ownership needs to be rethought. The keynote will address all of these challenges
and will try to find answers and strategies.

TRANS-EUROPEAN NETWORKS-CONVERGING STRATEGY & ULTRA-CHARGING | DR. HELMUT W. MORSI (EUROPEAN COMMISSION, DG-MOVE B)

TEN-T and then CEF have been funding the deployment of alternative fuels since 2010. The emphasis was always on infrastructure, while focusing on real-life trials to accelerate the move towards market roll-outs along the TEN-T network. In this context the most recent developments and plans for the next 2 years will be presented, with topics ranging from CEF Synergy, CEF Financial Blending to CEF2 and general convergence strategies to support industry and citizens to make innovation happen in Europe to ensure sustainable transport, fighting climate change and keeping jobs in production. Currently there is an obvious lack of affordable alternative fueled vehicles, so that even the installed alternative fuel infrastructure (e.g 1200 fast charges by TEN-T/CEF alone) cannot create sufficient revenue. It is also clear that interconnecting the separate innovative elements is and will play a key role. We must turn the page now – together!
